how long can a sinus infection last if untreated

you see yourself on this page because you search for ´ how long can a sinus infection last if untreated
but the first question I will like to ask you is what type of sinus infection are you having,
There are two type of sinus infection the bacterial and the viral sinus infection, the bacterial sinus infection can last indefinitely if left untreated whereas the viral sinus infection only last for a few days ranging from  seven to ten days. t
Then how do you know you have viral or bacterial sinusitis?
When the symptoms lasted for more than 10 days as mentioned earlier, there is severe pains an fever, you  have a very dark greenish or yellowish discharge mucus the infection keep reoccurring even after treatment, this is a clear sign of  bacterial sinus infection. If that is true then you will need an antibiotics, amoxilline is the best option, it can kill most of the bacteria causing the infection, though most physician prefer the amoxilline-clavulate.
If the sinus infection is just mild , with no thick yellowish discharge, low fever  but just  headache, congestion , clear thin nasal discharge and trouble sleeping . the you are probably having a viral sinus infection, you n=don’t need any antibiotics to  treat this type of infection, it usually goes on it own, you just need to drink alots of fluid , avoid dehydration, use humidifiers to keep the sinus cavity moist , you can alternatively use decongestant to clear stuffy nose .
Avoid extreme temperature ; either too cold or too hot, clear the nasal passage, blocked one nostril while blowing the other nostril and do the same for the other nostril.
